What is a Hot rolled steel sheetHot rolled steel sheet is a versatile industrial material that is made by heating a steel plate above 1100°C and rolling it to a specific thickness (usually 1.2mm-200mm). Plates made with this manufacturing process have excellent structural integrity, excellent weldability, and good formability, and are mainly used in heavy-duty applications such as bridge construction, shipbuilding, pressure vessels, and industrial machinery. The sheet has a unique abrasive surface and is available in a variety of grades, including ASTM A36 hot rolled steel plate and A572, providing reliable performance for structural and industrial applications where surface finish is secondary to strength and durability.

Q: Is A36 the same as hot rolled steel?
A: A36 is a material standard while hot rolling is a process. Though A36 steel is typically hot-rolled (called "A36 hot-rolled steel"), they differ fundamentally: A36 defines mechanical properties (250MPa yield strength) and composition (≤0.29% carbon), whereas hot rolling refers to high-temperature steel processing. Not all hot-rolled steels meet A36 standards (e.g., high-carbon steels), and A36 can also be cold-processed. The construction industry prefers hot-rolled A36 for its economic benefits and guaranteed strength.
